Palm tree removal costHow much does palm tree removal cost in Brisbane and the Redlands?

Palm tree removal cost depends mostly on how tall the palm is, what species it is and what is underneath it and around it: a pool, a roof, a power line. This guide gives the ranges Brisbane-area price guides publish, explains what moves the price, and shows what customers say about palm jobs.

The short answer

Published Brisbane-area guides put palm tree removal at about $250 to $1,200. A palm 6 to 10 m tall often costs $400 to $1,200, and a large palm over 10 m or a Canary Island date palm costs more, at $1,200 to $3,000. Those are published market ranges, not Tree Problem No Problem’s prices. Every quote from us is free.

Only two of the guides we read give palm prices at all, so treat the figures as a rough guide. Palm removal comes up again and again in our Google reviews, from Cuban royal palms to Caribbean date palms and whole clumps of cane palms, and the quote always starts with a look at the palm and what is around it.

Palm 6 to 10 m tall$400 to $1,200

Yakka Labour (published 1 October 2026): palms of this height “often” cost this much.

Large palm, 10 m and over, or Canary Island date palm$1,200 to $3,000

What’s The Damage (Brisbane, updated October 2026).

These are not our prices. They are published by other websites, and neither is a quote. What’s The Damage, which sells advertising and leads, calls its figures “estimates”.

For a sense of smaller jobs, Airtasker’s Brisbane Bayside page (updated October 2026) shows task budgets that customers posted, which are what people offered rather than what was charged. They included $300 for four palms and $1,200 for two pandanus palms.

What changes the price

What changes it Why it matters
Height The guides step the price up with height: Yakka Labour has a band for palms of 6 to 10 m, and What’s The Damage has its top band from 10 m.
Species What’s The Damage puts Canary Island date palms in the same top band as palms over 10 m. One of our customers said of a Caribbean date palm: “no way I’m touching that thing again!”
How many palms or stems A clump of cane palms is a different job from one trunk. One customer had “25+ palm tree canes and 3x whole palm trees taken down with ease”.
Access Tight back yards, slopes and narrow side access make a job harder. Guides list access as a price factor.
What’s underneath A pool, a roof, a fence or a power line below the palm means it has to come down in pieces, not in one drop.
Fronds and waste Palm fronds add up. Chipping and green waste removal are price factors in the guides. We take green waste away unless you ask otherwise.
The stump Quoted separately in most guides. See the stump grinding cost guide.
Approvals If Council approval is needed, that costs extra. See Redland City Council tree rules.

Near pools, houses and power lines

This is where most of the extra work, and extra price, comes from. When there is no room to simply drop a palm, it comes down in pieces: the crew takes it down in sections from the top and carries the trunk out in pieces.

“Andrew and his team removed some cane palms and a huge tall palm which was within meters of my home and powerlines. They took care of it quickly and with due care.” Mel K., Google review

If a palm is close to a power line, the safety advice matters more than the price:

  • If a tree is touching powerlines, stay at least 10 metres away and call 000 (Energex).
  • Never try to trim trees near powerlines yourself. For trees close to the line that runs from the pole to your house, Energex says to call a professional arborist or tree trimmer.
  • Energex trims trees around its own powerlines in the street, normally free of charge. Ask through its Customer Self Service Portal.

What about the stump?

None of the guides we read gives a separate price for a palm stump. If you want the stump out as well, ask for it when you get your quote. Stump grinding is available, normally to about 200 mm below ground level, and the stump grinding cost guide has the published ranges.

Questions

How much does palm tree removal cost in Brisbane?

Published guides put palms at about $250 to $1,200, with palms over 10 m and large date palms at about $1,200 to $3,000. They are market ranges, not our prices. For a real figure, ask for a free quote.

Why can a date palm cost more than other palms?

The guides price by height and species, and What’s The Damage puts large palms and Canary Island date palms in its top band. The guide doesn’t say why, so ask at the quote what is involved with yours.

Can you remove a palm near a pool or power lines?

Yes. We look at the height, the access and what is underneath when we quote. If the palm is touching a power line, stay at least 10 metres away and call 000 before anything else.

Do I need council approval to remove a palm?

Some trees in Redland City need approval before they come down, depending on the property. We tell you at the quote if approval is needed and can handle it. See the Redland City Council tree rules guide.

What happens to the fronds and trunk?

The palm is cut up and taken away. Green waste is taken away unless you ask otherwise, and fronds are chipped, so ask if you would like to keep the mulch.

Do you charge for quotes?

No. Quotes are free, we are open 7 days a week, and there is a pensioner discount: ask when you book.
